Search Results
The results of your searches are displayed on a Search Results screen. From here you can link to the Full Text of a particular work.
| What are the words with coloured backgrounds at the top of my results? |
At the top of your results are your search query details, e.g:
11 results for oil money
Words with a red background are keywords you used in your search. Words with a green background are words in title used in your search. Words with a yellow background are Authors used in your search.
| How are the results sorted? |
By default, Search Results are sorted in relevance order, and within that alphabetically. Apart from Criticism Results which are ordered chronologically.
The position of a result in a list is shown by the number to its left.
| How do I view results listed after 20? |
ProQuest Learning: Literature displays 20 results to a page, up to a maximum of 100. If there are more than 20 results, a series of page numbers is displayed at the top and bottom of the list of results next to the heading Go to page.
- Click one of the page number links to see the results listed on that page.
| How do I view the Full Text of an item? |
- Click on a title link to view the Full
Text of the article.
| How can I refine my search or perform a new search? |
To refine your search:
- Click on the Refine Search button at the top of the
list of results. This will return you to the Previous Search screen
with your current search terms intact, and enable you to alter/add to
them.
To perform a new search:
- Click on the New Search button at the top of the list of results. This will return you to a clear Search screen so you can start a new search.
Note: You cannot refine a Quick Search. To perform a New Quick Search simply add new terms to the Quick Search box and click GO.

- A Quick Search returns 5 results from all areas of ProQuest Learning: Literature.
- You can jump down to a particular set of results by clicking the appropriate
link at the top of your results.

| Author Search Results |
- An Author Search will return a results list of author names, 20 to a page. If there are more than 20 results, a series of page numbers is displayed at the top and bottom of the list of results next to the Previous and Next page buttons.
- Clicking on an author name will take you through to the Author Page of that author.
| Criticism Search Results |
- A Criticism Search will return a results list of 20 results maximum to a page.
- Clicking on an title will take you through to the Full Text of that article.
- Results those marked with a
icon have a PDF version of the article available.
- To access more than 10 results within a particular set of results click the [more] link. This will take you a detailed results screen. If there are more than 20 results, a series of page numbers is displayed at the top and bottom of the list of results next to the Previous and Next page buttons.

- A Literary Works Search will return a results list of 30 results maximum to a page. Split between Novels and Short Stories, Plays and Poems.
- Clicking on an title will take you through to the Full Text of that article.
- You can jump down to a particular set of results by clicking the appropriate
link at the top of your results.
